Kombinace dvou materiálů s rozdílnými vlastnostmi je cestou nejen k maximální nosnosti, ale také k nezávislé volbě principu fungování hmoždinky podle stavebního materiálu, ve kterém je právě instalována – zda se skládá, rozevírá nebo uzlíkuje. Rozpěrná křídla červené části napomáhají správné funkci šedé, pevnější části hmoždinky. Šroub se snadno zašroubuje, ale při utahování je cítit, že hmoždinka dobře táhne, a límec brání zapadnutí hmoždinky do vyvrtaného otvoru.
